Other activities include lighting firecrackers and giving money in red paper envelopes (ang pao). These are almost always passed from married couples or the seniors to unmarried juniors and children.

I like this picture-in-picture image, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Ray - I happened to be conveniently positioned for this.
A nice detail Ayush.
Ayush Basu: The scene caught my eye, Frank.
Ces décorations ont beaucoup de succès.
Ayush Basu: I think a lot of them were sold, Martine.

Exciting isn't it
Ayush Basu: This year was probably not too exciting for most folks, Chris.
Looks like she has got a decent snap on her phone Ayush smile
Ayush Basu: Yes, the newer generation phones come with some impressive lens and in-built apps, Bill.

I love these traditions Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I find the stories behind them very interesting, Chad. I hope you will follow the remainder of the series.
I love photos of other photographers. At first I thought it was a wallet with tiny red envelopes.
Ayush Basu: These are wall hangings with auspicious inscriptions, Mary.

a cool capture
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Sherri.
Traditions like these help the world turn 'round, Ayush, for sure. What would we do without them.
Ayush Basu: I always find the stories behind these traditions rivetting, Ginnie. Quite often it makes me think, 'we' are not so different from 'them'.
they hang cash on the wall? sounds like quite the party!
pretty picture in picture here, Ayush! brilliant way to experience this
Ayush Basu: Oh that was not what I meant, Elaine. The cash is handed out in red envelopes as gifts. What is seen in the image are simply auspicious inscriptions or some kinds of prayers, to be hanged on the front doors.

Lots of gold and red.

Do the receivers get a ot of money?
Ayush Basu: I will be talking about the gold/yellow and red colours in a coming post! wink
Only the children get those envelopes and young adults, Louis. The thumb rule is that once you get married, you change sides from payee to payer grin

This is a great picture, Ayush. You picked the right moment!
Ayush Basu: I am pleased you like it, Astirid - I sometimes do this (picture of a mobile screen).
This is great Ayush! Very nice composition smile
Ayush Basu: I have employed similar shots in the past and usually like seeing the results of other devices, Martin. Thank you!
Two shots in one!
