Sundown at West Coast Park

A short break from the Spain sojourn.

It is often said that any moment, there are over a thousand ships anchored in Singapore waters and a ship entering or leaving Singapore at an average rate of one ship every three minutes. Singapore has ports at Tanjong Pagar, Keppel and Pasir Panjang. It is planned that in the coming decades, all these ports will make way for a consolidated megaport in the southwest district of Tuas, fully operational by 2040. But before that, there is much work to be done. Pasir Panjang Terminals are one of the newer and more advanced ones of Singapore's ports. There are six terminals and a total of more than hundred and fifty quay cranes.

Oh...a superb installation of Industrial Art, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I get interested with such facilities always, Ray.
Une vue impressionnante sur ces grues.
Ayush Basu: An interesting scene to watch and it was also silent at that time, Martine.
Goodness... that's something!
Ayush Basu: The sheer scale of it, Elizabeth!

There is a great vibrancy to this place
Ayush Basu: Quite a hum of activity but not in a disruptive way, Chris.

I am staggered by those figures Ayush, what a major commercial hub Singapore is.
Ayush Basu: In terms of marine commerce, it is indeed the case, Chad.
An incredible amount of shipping!
Ayush Basu: The geographic positioning keeps Singapore relevant in that sense, Tom.
I hadn't realised all this went on at Singapore Docks, this has lots of industrial interest to it.
Ayush Basu: I get interested with such facilities always, Brian.
Wow ayes that is impressive. Singapore is clearly a very important place in world trade
Ayush Basu: It's geographic positioning helps, since several centuries, Bill.

The contrast of all that iron against such a pastel, delicate sky...really cool.
Ayush Basu: I agree with your observation, Bonnie. Thank you.
Definitely what I'd expect your port to look like there, Ayush, similar to what I saw in Rotterdam here.
Ayush Basu: I did not have the opportunity to visit Rotterdam but I have seen a lot of photos from there, Ginnie.

Wow, Ayush, this is quite something and my kind of picture. I love those industrial installations. They make a great "horizon"...
Ayush Basu: Same with me. I get interested with such facilities always, Astrid.

Fascinating to learn the volume of traffic at the port. Is there is a good infrastructure of road and rail away from the port?
Ayush Basu: There was a rail line that went all the way up into Malaysian heartland. But trucks have taken over that role, Alan.
i love those see through towers!! lovely picture of the harbour!!
Ayush Basu: I like how you put it - see through tower. Thank you, Elaine!

This is like an ode to human endeavour.
Ayush Basu: An apt summary, Louis.
Lots of activity happening here, Ayush. Really like how you've captured the industrial feel of this port.
Ayush Basu: Yes, but not in a disruptive way, it is always smooth and silent here, Beverly.

Ayush Basu: It was an evening one weekend quite some time back, Peter. I enjoyed that visit and remember it well.
