There was a Buddhist altar and it was possible for devotees to make an offering of lit candles. A little one looks on as her (presumably) mother and grandmother take a couple of trays of lamps.

Another fine image, Ayush.

I have not seen these glass lamps in Thailand.
Ayush Basu: Quite right, Ray. I think it is more of a ritual here. I recall seeing pink lotus shaped candles more.
L'enfant est très intéressé.
Ayush Basu: I imagine she was not permitted to handle burning sources, Martine.

She is interested in what is happening
Ayush Basu: A good thing that her curiosity is piqued, Chris.
She is learning for the future
Ayush Basu: Future mischief grin?

The young girl looks absolutely fascinated to observe the process Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Hopefully no pranks are involved, Chad smile
Like the lighting device that mom has in her hand. An ancient tradition with a modern twist.
Ayush Basu: I agree with your observation, Beverly. Thank you.
What! Not ice-cream?
Ayush Basu: As a reward perhaps, right after this grin
A nice moment captured Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Probably something I learned from SCers over the years, especially the people moments, Frank.
Lovely candid shot, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I think I picked it up over the years from the SCers, Tom.

the little girl is so pretty and she appears very curious
Ayush Basu: A good thing that her curiosity is piqued, Sherri.
Oh look at that beautiful little face - full of curiosity!
Ayush Basu: Yes, I liked that her curiosity is piqued, Elizabeth.
What a precious way of learning the rituals, Ayush!
Ayush Basu: I think in a few years she will be offering respects by her own, Ginnie.

I love all the traditions they keep, Ayush. The little girl has to wait a few years before she can lit the candles, but then she knows what to do.
Ayush Basu: She is free to make mental prayers as of now, but yes, she will have to wait a bit more before handling fire, Astrid.
i think kids think ALL religions are weird lol cute picture!
Ayush Basu: I think you are spot on - "Mummy, Granny, why are you lighting all that fancy stuff up?"

All part of the traditions. The little one will soon be taking part.
Ayush Basu: I believe she is already joining in, minus the lamp handling part, Alan.

Making merit - as Ray always tells us.
Ayush Basu: Indeed, as this is also a Buddhist place and Singapore does have a significant number of practicing Buddhists, Louis.
i like the look on the little girls face full of interest Ayush....petersmile
Ayush Basu: A good thing that her curiosity is piqued, Peter.
