Little India Walkabout 5

During colonial times, this area was home to dairy farms (there is still a Buffalo Road). Today, there is a large tourism potential here; visitors are attracted to the colourful fabrics, flowers and garlands outside the provision stores and sometimes just the mouth watering smells wafting out of eateries.

I love the organised chaos of markets in SE Asia, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Yes, like the bucket on the stall roof, Ray smile
Ils se font de jolis souvenirs de vacances.
Ayush Basu: Yes, a lot of colours and experiences for them, no doubt.
Lots of color - as expected!
Ayush Basu: Indeed, as expected, Elizabeth.
Ah, the ubiquitous phone camera ! Good catch Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Frank. It is said to be the device that democratized photography.

The lady on the left is well equipped for sun or rain, Ayush

Very good Ayush, tourists in action
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Chris, I know you have a preference for people shots.
Many cities were once farmland
Ayush Basu: Yes, the transformation elsewhere and also in Singapore has been dramatic, Bill.

It looks an exotic place Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I wonder if part of it is intentionally allowed to prolong to preserve the additional interest, Chad.
I can understand the interest from we visitors from western countries, it is all so different to what we are used to.
Ayush Basu: Yes, like the bucket on the stall roof, Briansmile
The colors and smells would be two of the main reasons I'd ever want to visit any Little India, Ayush. I love that you are documenting this.
Ayush Basu: I confess there are several backyard gems of Singapore that I neglected to explore in the past, Ginnie.

I would be attracted too by the colours but alas I no longer have a sense of smell.
Ayush Basu: My father also has that a bit but I think he is not significantly bothered nor affected by it, Alan.
oop, the guy in the plaid shirt is giving you the old stink eye lol
lovely street photography, Ayush!!
Ayush Basu: Well, I have to get some thicker hide, Elaine grin Thank you.

With their umbrellas, they seem to be expecting monsoons. Looks like a place where I can spend some time - especially for the aromas.
Ayush Basu: After Hong Kong, you might consider a visit to Singapore, Louis. Your nose can indeed guide you over a variety of places in Singapore.

nice capture of the photographer
Ayush Basu: I thought the overall scene deserved to be captured, Sherri.
I wonder whether there still are a few Buffaloes around Buffalo Road... smile
Ayush Basu: Not anymore, Sudipto. In land scarce Singapore, real estate is catered for activities that give the highest returns on investment.
good shot of the tourist taking pictures of the people and items outside of the provision stores Ayush... they were expecting rain that day....petersmile
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Peter. Indeed, the tropical climate of Singapore means one should really be prepared especially if expecting to be outdoors a lot.
