Singaporean Indians today are about 7.0% of the country's population. They are from just about any religious background one can think of, including Parsi or Zoroastrianism. Contact with India started centuries ago, through trade and religious missions, later through expansion of kingdoms such as the Srivijaya and the Majapahit. This was prior to the Colonial (British) period. Seen here is a statue of Hanuman, a monkey-warrior character from the Hindu epic, Ramayana, depicted with SE Asian influence.
