The figure of Saint John of Nepomuk is apparently quite important in the Czech Republic. Apparently there were two of them, both around the same time. One was the confessor of the queen of King Wenceslaus, and the other had a significantly different political opinion from that of the same king. At any rate, the saint is usually portrayed with a halo of five stars, priestly robes and a crucifix. This statue was sculpted by a local Flemish sculptor, Pieter Pepers. At the back, the Church of Our Lady of Bruges can be seen.
