photoblog image Wat Chaiyamangalaram - 8

Wat Chaiyamangalaram - 8

A stupa and the temple complex can be seen in this view. The stupa at the rear was not open (at that moment) to visitors and is a columbarium. All the urns seen in the previous post have been there since before the space inside the main complex was used up. Subsequent urns go to the stupa at the rear.

The enqueue feature of SC is really helping me to balance out my posting activity on this site (even though I look back in and comment only when I am able to).

I am really enjoying your visit to this temple, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I am hoping not to give an overload of Penang, Ray. But then this city/island is picturesque and charming.
I love the pale pink color... An amazing place!
I'm pleased you're finding the site manageable!
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the kind comment, Elizabeth-this is really a worth visiting spot of Penang.

It sound as though you are a busy man Ayush
Ayush Basu: More like poor at organizing my 24 hours a day, Chris grin
Superbe ce temple , dommage qu'il ne soit pas ouvert..
Ayush Basu: I am pleased you like it, Claudine.

I love the roof tendrils Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I am with you on that, Chad.
Always enjoy your pics Ayush, and appreciate your comments on mine
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much for the encouraging remark, Bill.
What an interesting building,Ayush, with its many parts.
Ayush Basu: In Penang, sometimes it is common for some styles to be fused together (Thai/Chinese/Burmese along with Buddhist influences). This is mostly Thai though, Frank.
I don't know how you manage to get all these shots without the many people I would think are roaming around.
Ayush Basu: I had to wait a bit and luckily there were no hordes of tourists, Mary.
Just keep them coming Ayush, we all learn so much about your part of the world from your pictures and narratives. Those modern buildings in the back don't even start to compare with the beauty of this one.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much for the encouraging remark, Brian. Yes, that would be one of the high rise residential complexes of Penang island.
That is a lovely image.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much, Michael.
the detail in the constructions of these temples are breathtaking Ayush... good composition....petersmile
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the kind comment, Peter. This is really a worth visiting spot of Penang.

I am always impressed with the elegant designs and architecture of these temples. Thank you for showing them. By the looks of the tall buildings in the back, this looks close by a city center?
Ayush Basu: Thank you kindly, Astrid - this is really a worth visiting spot of Penang. It is not very far from the Georgetown heritage center of Penang. I am not sure if Jeroen passed by her; if they did, I cannot imagine them not liking it.
Looking at this makes me realize how often we do NOT see such structures, Ayush. For how beautiful and intricate they are, you'd think we'd see them all the time!
Ayush Basu: Thank you for that comment, Ginnie. I can assure you it is very easy to visit this place and loose track of time, admiring this place with all its fascinations and beauty.

I like the "lightning arresters" around the top of the main building.
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the clever moniker, Alan. A distinguishing feature of most (all?) Thai wats.

What a place. Colourful with a lot of detail. So many things you can take good pictures of.
Ayush Basu: Exactly! I have my work cut out when I have to decide what/how to shoot so many gems in this place and also in Penang, Louis.

between you and Ginnie, I sure am getting a lot of culture smile
Ayush Basu: I myself have been learning a lot through photography, Elaine. Incredible, isn't it?
What else did you see in Malaysia?
Ayush Basu: Hmm, in recent times, nothing much, LC. Penang has been occupying most of my time.
A very fine example of Thai temple architecture!
Ayush Basu: This is a highly recommended spot of Penang, Tom.
