Kek Lok Si Temple 3

The Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas, with 10,000 alabaster and bronze statues of Buddha, and the 99 feet tall bronze statue of Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy, are the main draws. The Ten Thousand Buddhas pagoda is an amalgam of a Chinese octagonal base with a middle tier of Thai design and a Burmese spiral dome.

At the time of my visit, a lot of the view was blocked by scaffolding so I unfortunately did not get photos of the Kuan Yin statue, so I leave you with this: http://www.penang-traveltips.com/goddess-of-mercy-pavilion_kek-lok-si-temple.htm

So touching to include someone praying. Very moving.
Ayush Basu: A fortunate opportunity, Bonnie.

A fine shot, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I am pleased with your approval, Ray.
Goodness this is extraordinary! I'm afraid it feels a bit like Las Vegas - but in a good way... if you know what I mean!
Ayush Basu: I know what you mean, Elizabeth, and I like the way you put it.

The place seems to ooze wealth Ayush. It must have cost a lot.
Ayush Basu: I could be wrong but most places of worship have not much of a problem raising money as and when they want to, Chad.
That certainly looks like a bright happy place.
Ayush Basu: Yes, I agree, Michael - no stern faces and warnings of that sort.

Your issue with the scaffolding is the sort of things that happen to me as well. I see of the items are on castors; do the re-arrange the interior of the temple at times?
Ayush Basu: They have some events around the year and even within the months, so I would not be surprised if there are significant re-arrangements done. Well spotted, Alan - I myself had clean missed it!

Ten thousand you say!
Ayush Basu: I took their word for it, Chris!
Goodness, to see 10,000 buddahs!
Ayush Basu: Well not all of them are large, some were barely the size of a palm and adorned entire heights and lengths of walls. I suppose they form the bulk of the ten thousand, Mary.
A 99ft statue and 10,000 Buddhas is hard to grasp Ayush

Quite amazing.
Ayush Basu: There were a lot of visitors, Tom, and not solely for religious purposes.

Lovely series of Temple views.
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the kind remark, CP. Just a few more to go.
I wonder why they stopped at 10,000, Ayush??? grin
