Yap Kongsi Temple 2

The Yap Kongsi is a kongsi or a clan association for those with the surname Yap. It maybe not as highly publicized as some of the other Kongsis, but it boasts of some exquisite exterior design and intricate rooftop features.

A fine still-life image, Ayush...Mr & Mrs Teapot, and the kids...
Ayush Basu: I like your spin on this scene, Ray.
I love that shot. Lovely colours and composition.
Ayush Basu: Delighted with your comment, Michael.
This is a beautiful comp, Ayush!
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the encouraging remark, Elizabeth.
Earthy.
Ayush Basu: I like your adjective, Michael.

And I'm sure their tea is exquisite too Ayush..
Ayush Basu: But being on the altar, I am sure it would be cold, Chris.
I like how the lids can't stray far away, Ayush. smile
Ayush Basu: That is a clever thing to do, isn't it, Ginnie?

Wonderful details seen in the temple. It makes it 'homey'...
Ayush Basu: Offerings to the deities, Astrid. Although the tea would be rather cold and stale grin
I note the tradition of cups without handles or saucers Ayush. I suppose the cup of tea is not picked up until the temperature has fallen sufficiently.
Ayush Basu: Either the tea is not at boiling point or perhaps the drinkers like the warm feeling in their palms, Chad. I couldn't say really.
A fine looking tea pot Ayush.
Ayush Basu: It mostly lies there on the altar, Bill and does not see any 'actual' use.

Il ne manque plus que le thé.
Ayush Basu: There is tea too, some of it can be seen in the white cups, Martine.

I like the subject you chose to promote the kongsi. Great composition for the still life.
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the warm compliment, Louis.
All set for you to take this great table-top image Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I think I was primarily attracted to the polished table top, Brian.
I have never seen a lid tied to a teapot.
Ayush Basu: I suppose it is to make sure that over the months and years, they remain together as a set, Mary.

lovely picture, Ayush! Even though I don't drink tea often, I love a nice tea setup
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the comment, Elaine.

A lovely composition Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I am pleased you like it, Anne.
Beautiful teapot...
Ayush Basu: On the polished table top, it looked rather nice, Larry.
great still life Ayush i like the depth of field and reflections of the rest of the tea set....petersmile
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the reaction, Peter. Indeed the reflections drew me in and with the 50mm lens, it was easy to play with the depth of field.
And it looks as though one can get a nice cup of tea there smile
Ayush Basu: Actually since it is a temple+clan house, I am almost certain that one can get a cup of tea. It would help if your surname was Yap smile

I like the attached lid on the teapots. I can't say its a problem I've had but they obviously have had disappearing lids.
Ayush Basu: I suppose with different caretakers and with this being a fairly open space, there is a greater probability of misplacing the lid, Alan. Just my guess.
Did you see Khoo Kongsi? that's the main one!

Many, many years ago, it used to be free. Now you have to pay to get in. sad
Ayush Basu: On the last Sunday of each month, you can still get in for free, LC!

I love the way your photo is composed smile
Ayush Basu: Thank you, CherryPie. I wanted to get the table top shine and show a hint of the tea in the cups.
