Anguish

The Vietnamese team put in a strong display and were mistakenly under the impression that they had narrowly missed the gold medal. Turned out that they in fact, had clinched it. At the time of this shot however, they were not aware and dejection was writ all over.

One of your best sporting images, Ayush...you are seriously good at this.
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the high praise, Ray.
Caught in a very human moment...
Ayush Basu: This action was very close to the finish line, which is where I was, Larry.

Wow ...such good shape! Now i feel bad eating this Easter candy smile
Ayush Basu: I had a plate of rather oily noodles, Emily, so I can give you company in feeling bad tongue
Excellent shot of the body language of dejection, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: This action was very close to the finish line, which is where I was, Frank.
Excellent, Ayush... do you have a shot, then, of when they realized they'd won?
Ayush Basu: I think I do but I will have to dig in my offline archives for that, Elizabeth.
A terrific shot documenting the mistaken dejection.
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the generous remark, Michael.

This is so expressive of despair - poor girls
Ayush Basu: They eventually found out about the corrected results and were over the moon, Lisl.
How could they not know?
Ayush Basu: At first they had been contradicted by the race umpires, Michael. Only later were the results corrected.

This is a 'before' shot Ayush, I hope you took another when they realised the real result
Ayush Basu: I think I did but I will have to dig in my offline archives for that, Chris.
Sounds a bit like this year's Oscars, Ayush! WOW.
Ayush Basu: Well, these ladies certainly swept the audiences with their performance, Ginnie.

You can almost feel the disillusion here and the lady with her arm up, wondering 'what went wrong'....
I hope you took a celebration shot as well?
Ayush Basu: The one with the arms up certainly was not hiding her heartbreak too well, Astrid. I think I did but I will have to dig in my offline archives for that shot.

I can just imagine that the look of despair quickly went once they learned to the outcome.
Ayush Basu: Oh yes, they just lit up, Alan.
I bet their expressions changed when they found out smile
Ayush Basu: Oh yes, they just lit up, Bill.
Their underpants are a bit like the ones I used to wear Ayush, with an obvious alteration.
Ayush Basu: I would like to say that their abdominal and leg muscles are like the ones I have, but that would be rather untrue, Chad.
The hands tell the story
Ayush Basu: It was difficult concealing their emotions at that point, Martin.

A very human moment - excellent catch of the moment.
Ayush Basu: Such emotions are hard to conceal, Louis.
I hope you got a second shot moment's later. Very good shot.
Ayush Basu: I did, Mary. Sadly I did not post here and I will have to wait until I am back in Singapore to look at my archives. Thank you for the kind comment.

Ayush Basu: They have all been doing this pretty well, Elaine. While I indulged myself with that plate of oily, fried noodles....

I can feel the emotions of this team. A very good photo of this moment.
