The unfocused stare suggests the gal from Malaysia has got herself into the zone, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I think it was prompted more by the impudent photographer in front of her, Ray grin
She's thinking about it, Ayush....
Ayush Basu: Focussed at one thing only...
She looks fast just standing still! smile
Ayush Basu: Then you should see me, Elizabeth grin
I like that look of intense concentration.
Ayush Basu: Focussed at one thing only, Michael

She is well trained in sport psychology for her event Ayush.

All looking ready for action!
Ayush Basu: Their nerves were all sharpened at that moment, I would assume, CP.
LOL at Elizabeth's comment. Total concentration!
Ayush Basu: Yep, that was a good one.
All the athletes were focussed to get their best out there, Ginnie.

She is really concentrating. I hope she had her jet shoes on.
Ayush Basu: Personally I think she was trying to shut out the intrusive photographer tongue But it is that focus which may give athletes split second edges which is all the difference between a medal and not.

Concentration is a big thing, it is all about the split seconds... great picture.
Ayush Basu: You are absolutely right, Astrid. And I got to see the difference between ecstasy and heart-break just because of those split seconds.

The final moments to get their minds in the right frame, trying remove all distractions.
Ayush Basu: The focus plays a big part in the difference between ecstasy and heart-break at the end of the race, Alan.
MAS is locked in and ready to go... great image Ayush....petersmile
Ayush Basu: Team Malaysia was eventually bettered by Vietnam (yellow), but yes - I do think she was all locked in, Peter. Thank you.
