Eschweiler Hauptbahnhof is the train station for Eschweiler in the German state of North Rhine Westphalen. It is on the Cologne–Aachen high-speed line. Regional services stop at the station every half hour in both directions but this intercity train simply whooshed by. This station has been added to the heritage list and played an important part during the expansion of the coal mining industry. In 1800s, the Eschweiler population exploded. Today it is much quieter and the mines from them have now been covered by newer forests.
