Dead jostled for space

Recently I have posted quite a bit of Singapore monuments and highrises, so for a change I decided to focus a bit on some of the lesser known areas.

This is a view of the Choa Chu Kang cemetery. Not only is it the largest operating cemetery in Singapore, it also houses the dead from various faiths [Chinese, Christian, Muslim, Parsi, Jewish and even Hindu - I always thought the Hindu dead were cremated].  With this shot, I wanted to convey the fact that thousands of graves are closely packed.

One of the best in your fine portfolio, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Your comment made my day, Ray... thanks
Great composition Ayush! I love how much it shows - those are very interesting graves, I like everything about them!

I have never seen anything like this in my life, Ayush...an Asian cemetery. And now that I say it, and see it, I'm very astonished.
Ayush Basu: I am pleased I could provide a different side of Singapore

Never seen a graveyard like this. Packed like canned peaches. A few million mosaic tiles must have been used.

I must confessed I thought that all Hindu's are cremated. So I have also learnt something here.
Ayush Basu: Exactly my thoughts too
Very interesting with the beautifully tiled retaining walls. I'd love to see this in person.
Ayush Basu: Well better not delay it then, you never know when it may make way for redevelopment tongue
I thought that too about Hindus Ayush. Good to learn something every day. I am fascinated by the designs which are more or less similar despite the differing faiths. Good that they can lie in peace together. A lesson for life!
Ayush Basu: Liked your thought about the lesson to learn. One we could take to our hearts.

This is an amazing picture, Ayush - much more packed than an English Churchyard
Ayush Basu: Appreciate your kind comment smile
Very very interesting shot; I see squares are avoided for the curved tomb shapes, gardens on top.
Ayush Basu: Thanks for your comment Juan
impressive
Ayush Basu: quite a contrast to the modern glamourous high rises, huh? grin

Great DOF in this Ayush, fascinating subject with all the curves, nice treatment also!
Ayush Basu: Thanks Fred!
Very interesting shot, Ayush - obviously the curved surrounds are a common feature!
Ayush Basu: They are used to create a grassy spot. The more maintained ones look neat and trim, the others look wild and overgrown
nice shot sir, sure shows off the crowded space!!!
Ayush Basu: You are too kind Rob. Yes, at times you really need to watch where you step if you are making your way through the graves
I've never seen a cemetery quite as picturesque as this Ayush, they are certainly crowded in.
Ayush Basu: Stay tuned for a couple more to come
Very nice capture Ayush. Almost a surreal image!
Ayush Basu: Thank you Richard
This is such a fascinating image. I am so pleased to have seen it. (:o)
Ayush Basu: There will be some more to follow up
You have managed to show me how closely packed these graves are....and in a very beautiful way, and very different from a Norwegian grave yard.
