Leonardus Molen, Maasbracht

Today, th mill is at rest, as indicated by the position of the vanes.

In 1973, the then miller fell in ill and since no replacements were found, all operations finally came to an end. Much (if not all) of the wooden work was dismantled. All that remained was the stone tower and it was converted into a loft for doves. In 1987 "Molenstichting Maasbracht" was established and it was in 1992 that it got the name Leonardus (for the last miller Leo Faems). In 1997, extensive restoration was completed and by 2000, new milling equipment was in place.

Ayush Basu: Yes, I was pleased too, Lisl. Especially since it was a very long journey on the bike for me tongue

There is a great desire to preserve the past Ayush.
Ayush Basu: That is good news for the thousand over of them, Chad.
It had had an interesting history before being restored to its' full glory Ayush
Ayush Basu: And hopefully it will continue for some more time in the foreseeable future, Bill.
beautiful picture, Ayush, and interesting stories these old windmills have to tell xoxox
Ayush Basu: Very true, Elaine. It is a wonder that all those stories survive.
Now, a tourist attraction.
Ayush Basu: And it is in good working condition too, Mary.
A very fine mill, how lucky it has been restored.
Ayush Basu: And also lucky that nearby houses and other urban development does not threaten the available wind, Brian.

And the beard says "Leonardus"
Ayush Basu: It did not escape your observation, Louis.
You are gradually putting together the world's biggest collection of mill pictures!
Ayush Basu: I have been told by some locals that they have not visited the number of windmills that I did, Tom!
I came in late, it seems. Looks like you had a great time.
Ayush Basu: Thank you for looking in, Larry. I thoroughly enjoyed each of the visits I made to the windmills.
