photoblog image De Grauwe Beer 2

De Grauwe Beer 2

It started operations and all was well, until the WWII when it was bombed by the British, as this area was the frontline between the Allied and Axis forces. In 1975, it was purchased by a lawyer and restored to working condition. Some of the orginal timbre beams still exist and can be identified by their worn out look and somewhat cracked appearance, while others have been replaced. Today it grinds corn for cattle feed and also provides flour for nearby bakeries.

A nice explanation to go with that lovely photograph.
Ayush Basu: It was a good way for me to record the info from the helpful volunteers that run the mill, Michael.

Love to see "the real deal", Ayush. Good for the lawyer to rebuild the windmill and make it productive again. A landmark like this should work.
Ayush Basu: I have been able to discover some more in the aream Astrid - so stay tuned smile And my bike is helping me expand my radius!
