Day of Making 1

I have been in the Netherlands for a while now. I did not have the pleasure of flying Chadair from Singapore nor taking the Le Camper to my temporary abode in Venlo. But anyway I am now out on my first excursion to the Stadler Service Nederland BV, not too far from the Venlo train station. The train in the foreground is an EMU by Stadler and the on the jack is, however, is an Alstom DMU.

And I thought I would share with you a misty morning ride to work with you all. This was in mid March.

Are you solving Rising Seas caused by Global Warming over there, Ayush?
Ayush Basu: Perhaps not on this trip, Ray - maybe the next one smile

I enjoyed the ride to work, Ayush...except I felt you could have been a bit more competitive when those couple of cyclists overtook you... smile
Ayush Basu: I was no match for them, Ray!

i hope they fix it
Ayush Basu: I imagine it is regular maintenance work, Sherri.
That is super.
Ayush Basu: Pleased you like it, Michael.

I am impressed with the bike ride and the man that overhauled you was cheating with an electric bike grin.... How long of a bike ride is it to work?
I think the visit to the Stadler Service looks very interesting.
Ayush Basu: It takes me about twelve minutes to do the four kilometers. I was no match for them, Astrid!
So strange to see them off the rails!
Fun ride to work! How long does it take in real time?
Ayush Basu: I imagine it is regular maintenance work, Elizabeth. It takes me about twelve minutes to do the four kilometers.

Very nice too Ayush. The Dutch have a proper respect for their railways
Ayush Basu: Yes, a tidy and efficient operation there, Chris.

I enjoyed the long cycle ride to work Ayush, you must have an electric powered bike to go that fast. I’m glad that chadair treated you well. You could have visited chadrail as well during your visit.
Ayush Basu: It takes me about twelve minutes to do the four kilometers, Chad.
And I will, probably to go visit Astrid and Ginnie!
J'avoue que je n'y connais pas grand chose en trains, mais j'apprécie cette manière de circuler ;-)
Bonne journée
Ayush Basu: I like the rail journeys here as much as on the bikes, Pascale.
Wouldn't I just like to have a look round this workshop. It looks like quite a long journey on your bike but the good thing is, no hills!
Ayush Basu: It takes me about twelve minutes to do the four kilometers. I am sure you would find this interesting, although it is not a vast space by any means.
Even Alan Rolfe can't ride that fast.

We used to build locomotives
Ayush Basu: All in the impression of the timelapse, Bill. Alan has a serious bike... and serious leg muscles, I imagine.
Would that be at Derby?
Glistening machines...
Ayush Basu: Oh yes, well looked after, Larry, or perhaps that was for the benefit of the open day. At least there were no graffiti.
I see you know your trains, Ayush, AND your bike. What a great misty ride to work. Bravo.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow in Utrecht!
Ayush Basu: Same here, Ginnie.
It takes me about twelve minutes to do the four kilometers to work.

The Stadler picture is one thing, but the speed with which you travel on the bicycle is awesome. Consider the Tour de France!
That's a glossy vehicle and quite a bike ride to work!
Ayush Basu: I am riding almost all the while here because of the ease and convenience, Tom.
