Onwards

I have arrived in Venlo and can consider myself fairly “settled in”. However I have not shot much recently and do not see that changing within this week so I thought I would continue to clear some images from my archives. This series has taken a long time in making it to the light of day. Last year, my family and I made a trip to the province of Rajasthan (north-western India). This is a shot from a passenger train of the Indian Railways, somewhere between Jodhpur and Jaipur.

And a video of my 1 minute 12 second commute to work:

Loved the video, Ayush...I was imagining you huffing and puffing as you raced along! smile
Ayush Basu: It got better in the recent couple of days but I had a cringe worthy case of runny nose the first couple of days, Ray! Mind you, my videos are not in the same league as those by Alan Rolfe.
Your ride looks very bike friendly, Ayush. smile
Ayush Basu: More cycles than humans in Hollandshire, Frank smile
What a great commute you have - and how long does it really take?? smile
I love your top photo, of the tracks screaming by.
Ayush Basu: It takes me not even 15 minutes, Elizabeth. I think the weather has been kind so far. I loved the tracks photo too, thank you for commenting on that!

Welcome to the Netherlands Ayush and I love that bikeride. I recognized the bridge we walked so in that regard I kind of know the route you take. I assume you have a different address to stay now.
How long of a bikeride, close to 30 minutes?
I love the traintracks!
Ayush Basu: Dank je wel, Astrid. You are absolutely right about the bridge, it is the same one on which we met a couple who informed us about the vandalism. Yes, I now stay much closer to my work place. The actual time is slightly above 15 minutes.

I enjoyed your cycle commute Ayush. This will keep you fit!
Ayush Basu: You should then see the locals overtake me left and right, Chris!

There is a sense of speed here Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I noticed that too, Chad. Sadly it does not come from my thigh power!
Bien sympa l'effet de mouvement sur ce cliché.
Bonne journée
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Pascale. Something new for me to try out.
There isn't much traffic on your commute Ayush
Ayush Basu: More cycles than humans in Hollandshire, Bill.
Were you on a cycle. I had though so but you ended at a bus stop.
Ayush Basu: Yes, Mary. I was on a bike and I stopped at the bus stop right outside the bus stop where I dismounted.
Original as an image, the contrast between the clean linearity of the binaries with the blatant blur of the sleepers due to the movement
Ayush Basu: Very apt, Claudio. I find the differences in motion blur (as you also pointed out) acted as a nice point of contrast.
Just the right blur...
Ayush Basu: Pure chance, Larry.

I love your commute to work video smile

My commute to work was a lot more congested with traffic!
Ayush Basu: It is a far cry from my normal Singapore commute too, CPsmile
How fun to see your delightful commute to work, Ayush! And to think we saw your building far off in the distance that day we visited you there. I see you still have patches of snow...while we have nothing.
Ayush Basu: There was more the first day/night I was here, Ginnie, so I am pleased to have seen the last snow here in Venlo.

I guess that video is some sort of time lapse with a camera mounted on the bicycle - it is excellent to see. And the blurry of Indian tracks is also special - you are spoiling us today.

Ayush Basu: It is a GoPro mounted on the handlebar, Louis. There are no interlock or door sensors on the passenger mainline trains, so they can be opened whilst the train is moving.
i love the picture, Ayush, you know how fond i am of blur smile but LOVED that video! what app do you use for that??
Ayush Basu: I used Photoshop to combine all the images, Elaine. Thank you for your enthusiastic comment.
