Thean Hou 2

I liked this angle as it showed off a bit of the open door, wooden pillars (red), stone pillars and the timbre rafters. Today it stands on a relatively quiet stretch of Lebuh Muntri, a stone's throw away from a number of pubs, backpacker hostels and a school. And I was still able to see respectful visitors on each of my three visits to this fine temple, both devotees and visiting tourists.

Lovely photograph smile I am intrigued to know what is inside...
Ayush Basu: An altar to the Heavenly Queen, for the Hainanese community of Penang, Cherie.
Such a beautiful shot, Ayush - and an amazing place!
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Elizabeth. This is indeed an amazing place and very peaceful.
A little bit of everything to showcase this fine temple, Ayush, situated midst the hubbub of life.
Ayush Basu: Yes, with much serenity and solitude, Ginnie. Thank you.

A good angle. These temples are always so colourful.
Ayush Basu: I am delighted you approve, Louis. Yes, especially the ones well restored.

There is so much to see here and they did a great job decorating this temple. The green (bamboo?) plants add to this picture.
Ayush Basu: I am delighted you approve, Astrid. Indeed one needs a fair amount of time to truly do justice to the temple.

Very Chinese isn't it Ayush
Ayush Basu: I am told it is peculiar to the Hainanese community of the Chinese, Chris.

I like the bold colours of the slightly mad-looking figures. I'm pleased to hear that visitors are respectful; that's not always the case with religious places in the UK.
Ayush Basu: Yes, his hairline and forehead have a disturbing effect, Alan.
Une photo flamboyante ..merci c'est très beau
Bonne journée
Ayush Basu: I am pleased you like it, Claudine. Enjoy the weekend.
I love the exuberance of these temples Ayush
Ayush Basu: Are you not disturbed by the fierce eyebrows and the scythe wielding door gods then, Bill smile

I like the modern touch of that lamp Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I suppose it would be for the evening events if there is a congregation of several devotees, although I have not seen the floodlight in operation, Chad.

Is this another watchful guardian, Ayush?
Ayush Basu: Yes, Lisl, one with fierce eyebrows and wielding a scythe smile
Have you been to Yong Peng in Batu Pahat?

There's a Chinese temple with a very big dragon there. I was there just 2 weeks ago smile
Ayush Basu: Regretfully, not yet, LC. I think we will see your holiday shots soon.
The camera is pointed at you and the eyes are scary enough to keep bad spirits away.
Ayush Basu: The eyebrows are somewhat disturbing, Mary tongue
There's lots to look at in these temples isn't there.
Ayush Basu: A fair amount of time is needed to truly do justice to this temple, Brian.
Not exactly encouraging one to enter!
Ayush Basu: I think you are disturbed by the fierce eyebrows and the scythe wielding door gods then, Tom smile
Interesting composition and fine colors...
Ayush Basu: Thank you Larry, for your input.
