A popular Character throughout South and SouthEast Asia, Ayush!
Ayush Basu: It would seem so, Ray. A benevolent character in mythology.

I wonder if children find this scary Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I would doubt that, Chad. Childhood stories paint him in a positive light. I gather he is the remover of obstacles and actually has a very a very benign and jovial disposition smile

Symbolism everywhere
Ayush Basu: A lot could be written here, Chris. Which I perhaps should have done in the description to the post!

I don't know how I missed the last two of this series, Ayush - colour and symbolism shine out
Ayush Basu: Thank you for looking in, Lisl!
Magnifique !!!
Ayush Basu: Merci!
Looks like he enjoys the good things in life Ayush
Ayush Basu: Oh he does, Bill. Usually he is depicted with plates full of delicacies, for instance.

a wonderful portrait of Lord Ganesh. "Many Hindus have a statue, painting or symbol to assist in praying to Ganesh at some time in their day. Since his main job is to remove obstacles in your life's path, he has become one of the most praised and worshiped of Hindu gods."
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Philine! I could not have summed it up better so thank you once more smile
Good symbolism shot!
Ayush Basu: I am pleased you like it, Roland.
How many hands!
Ayush Basu: I think majority of the divine characters have multiple hands, Mary!
Rather strange isn't it.
Ayush Basu: I suppose at the first glance it is, Brian. Devotees have perhaps grown up listening to mythological tales of this God.

I am enjoying this series Aysuh - it opens up a new world!
Ayush Basu: Penang is not too far from Singapore but I was surprised how much I came to love this place after having been here, Anne. Thank you for your comment.
It's amazing how Ganesha statues are there all across South East Asia... Before visiting Thailand, I thought only we worshipped Ganesha... Nice capture Ayush... smile
Ayush Basu: Thank you. You are right, Sudipto.
Pink.
Ayush Basu: Very!
And several other things!
Ayush Basu: Divine multitasking at work, Tom.

Oh dear! There is something rather disturbing with this. Its the sort for hing that nightmares are made of/
Ayush Basu: I gather he is the remover of obstacles and actually has a very a very benign and jovial disposition. Kids are usually introduced with childhood mythological stories smile
Did you see Shiva there?
Ayush Basu: Oh yes, see my previous post, LC. smile
That is terrific.
Ayush Basu: I am pleased you find it so, Michael.
I wonder if Lord Ganesh is ever offended if people want to laugh at him??? smile
Ayush Basu: I am told he is a benevolent character, he would perhaps laugh along with them, Ginnie.

"Seeing pink elephants" is a euphemism for drunken hallucination caused by alcoholic hallucinosis or delirium tremens.
Ayush Basu: I was not suffering from alcoholic hallucinosis, Louis.... well not that early in the day smile
He looks rather fearsome from this angle!
Ayush Basu: I gather he is the remover of obstacles and actually has a very a very benign and jovial disposition smile
