Tanjung Bungah Floating Mosque 3

Inside is a magnificent domed ceiling. It is worth spending about an hour here, some time inside appreciating the inner architecture and the activities to be seen all around outside. The Arabic text and floral patterns on the wall caught my eye.

Yes...caught the lovely essence of the Art common to the few mosques I have entered.
Ayush Basu: a lot of geometrical motifs, Ray.
That is very nice.
Ayush Basu: I am pleased you like this reproduction of the fine geometrical features, Michael.
It is very pretty!
Ayush Basu: Thank you Elizabeth, I liked it very much.

Intricate isn't it
Ayush Basu: It is a thing of much beauty, Chris - although I cannot make much of it.
Hypnotic.
Ayush Basu: I see what you mean, Michael.
I wish I could read Arabic Ayush, as well as a few other languages.
Ayush Basu: All I know is that it is read from right to left - that sums up my knowledge, Chad!
The patterning often found in arabic decoration is so beautiful
Ayush Basu: It certainly has a strong visual charm, Mary.

A fascinating series of images Ayush, these are lovely patterns.
Ayush Basu: Thank you for following the series, Anne.
This is magnificent work isn't it, I wish I knew what the words are saying.
Ayush Basu: Sadly I cannot shed any light, Brian.
It really is rather beautiful Ayush
Ayush Basu: Even though I do not comprehend it, Bill.
it is a wonderful tiled mosaic Ayush and you have framed it perfectly....petersmile
Ayush Basu: I got some vertical distortion though, Peter. Thank you for the kind remark.
That would catch my eye, too, Ayush!
Ayush Basu: Although it is incomprehensible to me, I found it appealing, Ginnie.
that arabic writing reminds me of something, but i can't put my finger on it...
Ayush Basu: smile Maybe it will come to you later, Elaine.

A lot of tiles. In Portugal, they tile whole buildings on the outside.
Ayush Basu: I suppose that was a mark of how wealthy residents are? There was a similar trend in Penang about a couple of centuries back, Louis.

This is a wonderful piece of art and a wonderful pattern. I like the design and the soft colours. Great series.
Ayush Basu: Very kind of you, Astrid. This will be a long series since I was based in Penang for the greater part of the past six months so I pretty much shot nothing else!

I wonder what they mean? The floral patterns are very appealing.
Ayush Basu: I regret that I cannot help you much. Thank you, Alan.
Arabic calligraphy makes a beautiful decoration.
Ayush Basu: I think it would be a matter of great patience to fabricate these, Tom.
Too complex and busy.
Make me feel dizzy if I stare at this pattern for too long. wink
Ayush Basu: Yes I know some people who get that way, LC.
Well, the wall indeed is eye catching... smile
