Clan Jetties of Pengkalan Weld 2

The Chew Jetty is the more well known, with a temple at the entrance. Obviously, with residents still living there, it is advisable to keep sounds down to the minimum and entrance is allowed only between 9am to 9pm. The other jetties do not have such constraints and therefore are a frequently visited spot for those wishing to see a sunrise.

It seems to be a well-used shrine, Ayush...I like it more than a pristine one.
Ayush Basu: It certainly sees a lot of visitors, Ray.
That is terrific.
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Michael.
Remarkable!
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Elizabeth.

wow, this scene reminds me of the movie 'the last emperor of china'...
Ayush Basu: I think I may not have seen it, Elaine. But Penang does have a strong Chinese ethnic touch.

Fascinating stuff Ayush
Ayush Basu: I am pleased you find it so, Chris.
It sort of looks cluttered if you see what I mean Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Wait until the throngs of people really start to come in, Chad.
The top looks great but the altar needs a new paint job.
Ayush Basu: I suppose the cosmetic requirements are not considered pressing here, Mary.
Clearly it has seen many visitors Ayush and the respect for the residents is good
Ayush Basu: I do hope tourists take it seriously, Bill - more often that not, I see irksome behaviour.

wonderful colours Ayush... that altar has had a thousand candles light upon it....petersmile
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much, Peter. You may well be right.
Even with restrictions, Ayush, this is to stare at. So much to see.
Ayush Basu: Chinese temples, even modestly sized ones, are extremely fascinating to my eyes. I have enough of those to last rest of 2017!
Looks in need of a tidy up!
Ayush Basu: I suppose you could say that, Tom

Looks like it has had a fair amount of use.
Ayush Basu: I suspect there have been carelessly lit candles and/or joss sticks, Alan. Thank you very much.

What a wonderful picture you I love the ceiling. It looks well used.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much, Astrid. I am sure the residents use it regularly.
Have you been to Kukup in Johor?
Ayush Basu: Not yet, LC. Not too interested in the fishing, but someday I plan to visit.
I like the twirly columns...
Ayush Basu: Apparently they are carved out of single monoliths, Larry.
