St George's Church 1

Standing at 1, Lebuh Farquhar, St George's Church is the oldest (and one of the loveliest) Anglican church in Malaysia. Plans for the church were under discussion for a long time and it was in 1814 that they were finally implemented in a Georgian-Palladian style.

I think the design would be a little inappropriate for that climate, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I have not been inside yet, Ray. I can see though why you say that.
It's rather imposing there, isn't it
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much. A few more shots of this place will follow, Elizabeth.

Ayush Basu: I get a similar impression, Michael.
You can see the colonial influence, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: This is from the parking lot at the rear, Frank. A few more shots of this place will follow.

It looks very grand from your angle, Ayush
Ayush Basu: The wide angle lens does tend to impart that kind of a feel, Lislsmile
So grand in its simplicity, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Very well put, Ginnie. It is certainly not as exquisite as some of the cathedrals and Doms of Europe but still manages to hold on our attention, doesn't it?

Beautiful architecture and what a great picture, love the palm trees at the right side.
Ayush Basu: I agree about the architecture and thank you for your kind remark, Astrid. Ginnie too made a suitable remark. I suppose the palm tree adds a bit of a local touch.
A rather fine building Ayush
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much, Bill. A few more shots of this place will follow.
You caught it just as if fell backwards Ayush.
Ayush Basu: The wide angle lens (and my wish to include more of the sky) does tend to impart that kind of a feel, Chadsmile

Is it still in use? Looks well maintained.
Ayush Basu: Oh yes, it offers Sunday masses. I was just about the afternoon mass at this location and therefore chose not to go in at this time. I will make another visit some time.
Elle est belle. Je n'ai pas l'habitude de voir de telles églises.
Ayush Basu: I think it is unusual in this part of the world, Martine. I agree this is a beautiful building.
Very different style for a church.
Ayush Basu: Especially in this part of the world, Mary.
