Residential Blocks for the living in the forebackground.
The Hakka Cemetery owes its beginning to the first influx of migrants from Guandong, China. Compared to the Hokkiens and Teochews, they are somewhat of a minority in Singapore. In 1887, a much larger plot of land at this current site was acquired to be used as a burial ground. In 1969, all land, except this small parcel of land where the current tombs are, was returned to the state, and a 99-year lease was signed.
