Line Up

I missed out this shot from the start of the Men's 10,000m event.

I should point out Mister Myanmar completed his ten kilometers barefoot, so he gets my thumbs up for his doggedness and, since he must have done this a lot earlier, his practise.

Beaucoup de stress sans doute avant le départ.
Ayush Basu: You can say that again, Martine. Merci.

Surprising differences in physique for a distance race, Ayush...most 10km specialists are rail-thin.
Ayush Basu: Good observation, Ray. The short distance runners were a bit bulkier.
Terrific - and yes, kudos to Mister Myanmar!
The optometrist in our office is an endurance runner - the man needs to eat a lot more cookies to get to a healthy weight in my mind! smile
Ayush Basu: I suppose he has excellent knees then, Elizabeth. And yes, cookies (chocolate chip ones) are called for.

It reminds of Zola Budd who ran bare foot and the incident with Mary Decker. I like Elizabeths idea of of her diet plan for your co-worker; sounds like something I could do (eat cookies, that is...)
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the names, Alan. I was not aware of that interesting incident.

So much for expensive running shoes then Ayush!
Ayush Basu: Sportswear (footwear) makers are probably not too happy with that chap and do their utmost to convince him why he needs to buy a three hundred dollars pair, Chris.
Not wearing shoes is a use Ayush! I used to do it quite often in Madagascar where I grew up...
Ayush Basu: I have seen it too although I never attempted it myself.
Madagascar! I guess this shot took down a memory lane... literallysmile
A nervous moment for runners Ayush, but the tall man looks relaxed as if he feels he has a leggy advantage.
Ayush Basu: He would be wrong, Chad. I am 183cm but I have done well on a grand total of 2 occasions!
At the start all things are possible
Ayush Basu: Very well said, Bill.
I have heard of people who practice barefoot running and there are shoes to mimic it.
Ayush Basu: I have seen people completely entire marathons in it, Mary - the full 42km.

I agree with Ray about the variety. Interesting about mr Myanmar.
Ayush Basu: That is true. The shorter distances had slightly bulkier athletes, Louis.
Walking or running outdoors barefoot has never appealed to me.
Ayush Basu: I am with you, Brian. But I suppose on this foam padded track, it should not be a huge task. But I would not know, really.
138 should do high jump!
Ayush Basu: Yes, I suppose so, but his heart is on the long distance apparently, LC.
Title is good... the image too.
Ayush Basu: I am pleased with your response, Jacquelyn.
That is nicely shot.
Ayush Basu: Very kind of you, Michael.
Running barefoot... I can't imagine it...
Ayush Basu: Me neither, Larry!

A nice lineup. Impressive running in bare feet.
Ayush Basu: Something I cannot imagine, CP.
