Do not worry, Singapore's Benny Lam did open his eyes before releasing the discus (to a distance of 41.35m).

Quelle concentration !
Ayush Basu: Yes indeed, Martine.
I love the look of concentration.
Ayush Basu: No fouls here, but not good enough for a podium finish, Michael.

gobsmacked
Ayush Basu: Not with the discus I hope, Ray smile Thank you.
Eyes closed, biting his tongue! Good catch, Ayush!
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Frank.
Good to know, Ayush!! Nice action!
Ayush Basu: Glad you liked it, Elizabeth.

Yes - a good thing to look where you're chucking it Ayush
Ayush Basu: Well, nobody got hurt eventually, Chris.

You have caught here a moment of intense concentration, Ayush
Ayush Basu: One of several shots on a burst mode, Lisl.
I hope he didn't bite his tongue Ayush.
Ayush Basu: He did not make it to the medalists list so it would have not been worth losing, Chad.

aaaah!! good way to bite your tongue!! nice shot Ayush!!
Ayush Basu: If you get the gold, then perhaps it is worth it, Elaine!! smile
His body "sees" without his eyes open...which is the wonder of it for me when watching, Ayush!
Ayush Basu: Yes, Louis had a similar theory too, Ginnie. I can understand the logic behind that now.
Great study in concentration Ayush
Ayush Basu: As I recall, he did not have any fouls so at least he got that right, Bill.

Keeping the eyes shut, one can better concentrate on the routine, which is very important for a good throw. Again I like the action, the straining muscles, the show of movement and the concentration.
Ayush Basu: I think that makes sense, Louis. For me visual cues work better though. Thank you for the detailed remark
I wonder what benefit the position of his tongue makes smile
Ayush Basu: Sniff out headwind direction? No, I have no clue, Brian. grin

FABULOUS...just FABULOUS.... the best... this is good, what a dedication. LOVE this one Ayush, a likey to me smile
Ayush Basu: Dank je wel, Astrid. I was pleased with this shot myself and I agree, he did not make it to the podium but he does have dedication.
Actually, this type of mid motion capture makes me fantasise about the athlete slipping and biting off his tongue.
Ayush Basu: That would be one $%^& moment, Michael! smile
he likely didn't need to open his eyes Ayush... he looks like he has thrown the discus a few thousand times... great action shot....petersmile
Ayush Basu: I have no doubt about that, Peter. Thank you for the comment.
