Thai Contingent

This is a generally low proflle event - coverage is nowhere near the same level as say, Rio Olympics. A lot of empty stands may be seen ahead. Two Vs and a thumbs up - means all set and raring to go.

Ils semblent très heureux de participer.
Ayush Basu: You are right about that, Martine. Thank you for the comment.

They are keen to start
Ayush Basu: They were having some time off, I imagine, their events started the next day, Chris.
Happy people they are Ayush!
Ayush Basu: They indeed were happy and excited, Richard.
I am always nervous of making hand signals in foreign countries Ayush, because one never knows how offensive they might be.
Ayush Basu: Precisely, Chad. I remember that the thumbs up is not too well received some places.
The v's are peace signs so these are peaceful people.
Ayush Basu: Oh yes, Mary. Vs go well with selfies and wefies.
Sadly the v-sign means something different in the u.K.as you probably know!
Ayush Basu: Yes, Brian - but here they go well with selfies and wefies!
The V that way round is not a friendly gesture in the UK grin
Ayush Basu: Precisely, Bill. I have considerable experience myself, of putting my foot in my mouth.
You captured some great smiles here.
Ayush Basu: I am pleased you liked them, Jacquelyn.

Great team capture! so many smiling faces!
Ayush Basu: Oh yes, Emily. Their events started the next day so at that point of time, they have some leisure.
A fun shot, Ayush!
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Elizabeth. I am pleased you like it.

All good stuff, Ayush
Ayush Basu: Wait until the competition proper begins, Lisl. They were a competitive bunch too.
Ready, set, GO. And I see that the smiles are getting bigger from left to right! smile
Ayush Basu: Good observation, Ginnie. Laughing gas wafting from the right of the frame then?

Chad makes a good point about the hand signals. Perhaps their V sign is the same as the UK's victory sign. They look very pleased.
Ayush Basu: Quite right, Alan. These young athletes meant it as a happy, exuberant gesture and this is fairly common in this part of the world. You may remember Ray posted some images from a recent parade around his residence - the V signs were there too.

Friendly athletes, each with a mobile phone...
Ayush Basu: Something is wrong, apparently, if one does not have a mobile phone with something rather engrossing going on in it, Louis.
That's a couple of well-fed fellas!
Ayush Basu: Think discus, Tom grin

As long as they enjoy themselves and I read Bill's comment. Always be careful of making 'sign language'... what is good in one country might be the death-penalty in another country.
Ayush Basu: Haha, yes. But in Singapore and even in SE Asia, it is quite safe, Astrid.

Colourful characters, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: They did add a bit of variety to the games, Pauline.
They are always so happy.
Ayush Basu: Isn't that great, LC?
Happy folks...
Ayush Basu: Wait till their events start up, Larry - utterly focussed.

The two shot-puters are about ready to start their comp, Ayush...you might get some good shots there.
Ayush Basu: They made short work of putting shots all over the place, Ray. My first attempt at athletics and I found it very interesting and challenging to say the least.
