Colossal locomotives weighing 136 tonnes and owned by the War Department, 150 Longmoors were built by the North British Locomotive Company. 73755 subsequently became the 1000th British built steam locomotive to be shipped to mainland Europe. Built in 1945, as per the Dutch Railway Museum, using cheap materials, it had a longevity of eight years against the expected forty. This loco was withdrawn in 1952 for preservation.
