Charlemagne

... with his distinctive orb.

I wonder if this depiction of him with a slight paunch is closer to truth when compared to so many others of him (and other historical personalities) with flatteringly enhanced physical attributes.

We will never know, Ayush...it seems the photographic paper of the time was much sought after at beetle/moth feasts, as none seems to have survived.
Ayush Basu: The same is probably true for the rodents since none of the cameras made it as well, Ray
One does have to wonder!
Ayush Basu: The piece of work made me wonder for the first time, Elizabeth

C'est un tag bien réussi.

I doubt if he'd like this depiction Ayush
Ayush Basu: In that case, I am pleased he does not have his sword handy, Chris!
Someone is surely green with envy. HA! I immediately thought of Jim Carrey in the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. smile
Ayush Basu: Probably the neighbouring king bought a larger TV or latest gadget. Joke aside, he was said to have a paranoia of his brother (not sure how substantiated is that statement).
I think I have heard of the movie but not seen it. The connection, I can imagine though.
He definitely looks like Charlemagne Ayush...Well spotted and captured!
Ayush Basu: He was pretty much unmistakeable, Richard. Thank you
He certainly didn't acquire it by eating green salads
Ayush Basu: That he didn't, Martin. Thank you for the comment smile
I suspect you are right Ayush
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the comment, Bill

Hah, hah - one day when you can, visit the castle at Heidelberg. They have some statues of the Palatine princes who stayed there. Those guys were huge.

One should consider that Charlemagne means "big Charlie". So he must have grown in some areas smile
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the tip, Louis. I will have to look it up. Yes, Carolus Magnus went literal with his name.
With his green colour, I think he is feeling a bit unwell.
Ayush Basu: Quite so, Mary grin

I am sure that that is the case Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the comment, Chad.

Charlemagne looks thoughtful considering the situation in Europe - an interesting depiction of him!
Ayush Basu: Oh yes, good point, and he had strong ties to the Vatican, isn't it Philine?
Grinch + Santa? wink
Ayush Basu: Something along those lines, LC grin
great street art Ayush... i think that this would be closer to his physical appearance Ayush... thanks for pointing that out....petersmile
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the comment, Peter.
That is a nice piece of street art.
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Michael.

I had to google Charlemagne... yes I can see the resemblance... Love the green smile
Ayush Basu: He is quite a figure in the part of Germany-France and apparently had solid ties to the Vatican as well. I suspect the artist had several cans of green and not too much of other colours. Or perhaps just his/her statement, Astrid.
Good find... It made me laugh a bit.

Ah, j'adore !
His greenness in colour reminded me of the Incredible Hulk!

But he looks a lot more friendly smile
