This statue is a tribute to the industrial past of Aachen, Germany. Not much is known about the model of this 1909 statue by Carl Burger. It is to be found on Jakobstrasse. The statue shows a larger than life blacksmith in apron with a large hammer in his right hand, resting on the pedestal. He has substantial musculature and looks over to the left. 175+ years old railway rolling stock manufacturer, Talbot/ Bombardier was pulling out of Aachen few years ago and apparently, this statue was chosen to represent those who opposed the move.
I had another photo of it from the front but for some reason cannot retrieve it.
