Roermond

A change of trains was needed at the town of Roermond and after getting off, I stopped for a little under a minute to take this shot of the train on the other platform. Turned out that this was to be the connecting train and right after this shot, it rolled away. My companion and I had a chuckle and we decided to have a stroll outside the station since now we had an unplanned hour.

I think you have your priorities right... smile
Ayush Basu: Then I think we have some similarities in the way we think, Larry smile

Are my eyes playing up, Ayush...those track ties [sleepers] do not see to be a right angles to the tracks?
Ayush Basu: I guess that would be the wide angle lens imparting some distortion, Ray. It appears to me that the sleepers were bent in the middle section.
Ah, that is a sweet image. Time well spent.
Ayush Basu: Absolutely right, Michael. Thank you.
Oh what we sacrifice... smile Glad you stopped for this great shot though!
Ayush Basu: Thank you Elizabeth.
Oh it was no big deal at all, the stroll through Roermond was quite pleasant actually.
Connections are sometimes dicy aren't they Ayush? Great capture!
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much, Richard.
There was no harm done as I was on a pleasure trip and I got a bit of a first impression of the town of Roermond.

I always worry about connections - you were extremely laid back, Ayush!
Ayush Basu: Normally I am not so, but on this occasion, I was a mixture of laid back and unaware, Lisl smile

They are too efficient for their own good Ayush
Ayush Basu: Perhaps Astrid can pass on your feedback to the NS, Chris smile
Ouch. But you clearly made the best of it, Ayush! Good for you.
Ayush Basu: I was not affected by it either way, Ginnie. It was a pleasure trip on a weekend and both my companion and myself were not on a tight schedule. I did like the brief stroll outside and around the railway station.
What is that blue sky Ayush?
Ayush Basu: I got quite a bit of the blue sky through the wide angle, Chad. It was very windy those days and the clouds were being dynamic about it.
Now that you brought my attention to it, I notice that the pantograph is not to be seen; perhaps it was up on the end other end of the train.

I know sad in the Netherlands you have to be in good shape to run from one end to the other to catch the train...
We have a Dutch saying, girls are like train, don't run after them, there will always be another....
Ayush Basu: Oh that is quite ok. I am perfectly sure that I would not have made the connection anyway. I needed to validate my NS ticket and there was some queue for that. I have to appreciate that people on that occasion had the discipline not to simply cut across the tracks, which I have seen being done in several other places.

A great picture though, LOVE the composition.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much, Astrid.
Good job it was a regular service, not a twice a day one.
Ayush Basu: Had it been that way, my companion might have left me tied up to the tracks, Martin grin
I wondered what Astrid would say grin
Ayush Basu: smile
I liked what she had to say about chasing girls and trains, Bill

You are fortunate to have such a sky - it adds a lot of pizazz to the picture.
Ayush Basu: I agree Louis, and it was a windy day so it meant that the scenes were ever changing.
Hope you caught the next one!
Ayush Basu: Yes, we did. I do not think my companion would be amused any further if my stopping to take photos made us watch the back of yet another departing train, Tom.
wonderful shot, i would almost think it was fake somehow! even the sky looks a tad fake lol how can that be?
Ayush Basu: I know what you mean, Elaine. Perhaps it is the saturation? Thank you.
So many bicycles!
Ayush Basu: I suppose they would all the commuters who ride to the train station and then take the train for the onward journey, LC

Great angle. I hope you enjoyed your "found" time.
Ayush Basu: Thank you Hollie, yes I had an enjoyable stroll through Roermond.
