photoblog image Soft Landing

Soft Landing

I was trying to pre-focus on the flowers and wait for one them to land. A game of patience and with mixed results.

I had just finished setting up the camera and started the time lapse when I noticed the girl sitting on a bollard and not making a move despite several green cycles of the traffic light. I asked her if I could help her with directions and she asked me the way to a particular temple. Luckily she had a map on hand so I could mark it out for her. I hope she made her way there!

The gal was evidently wanting attention from you, Ayush, and so you have now starred in one of your own excellent timelapse vids.
Ayush Basu: Starred? Not marred? grin
your timing for this macro was excellent Ayush...

that was a cool timelapse video with your wide angle lens....petersmile
Ayush Basu: Yes, that was a fixed lens and I knew the skyscrapers would be wildly distorted, Peter. Even though it is a bit more tedious, I like the results of time lapses. Thank you for both comments.
Very nice image indeed Ayush!
Ayush Basu: Much grateful for your generous remark, Richard

Patience is its own reward Ayush
Ayush Basu: You can say that again, Chris
And I think I surprised myself too!
That was cool to capture yourself in the timelapse too.
Ayush Basu: Trying to make myself useful while the time lapse was in progress, Mary grin
Beautiful Swallowtail and flowers..........the timelapse video is inspiring, Ayush! smile
Ayush Basu: Thank you Martin, and thank you again grin
Very delicately done Ayush. like the photograph.
Ayush Basu: Thank you Chad, a pleasure to have captured this beauty.

The pre-focus game works better with a much broader field of focus - somewhere around f/12 for instance. I believe your camera can handle that, in an even higher ISO setting?

Another great time lapse.
Ayush Basu: You are absolutely right about using a wider focus field. I was shooting in the later hours of the day. I suppose I could have gone up a couple of notches on the ISO. I think full frame cameras have the added advantage in that respect.
Your patience really DID pay off, Ayush. Bravo. And bravo also on you very successful time lapses!
Ayush Basu: Thank you Ginnie. It was a rather good workout for my wrist too!
The time lapse thing can get a bit addictive!

Lovely picture of the butterfly. Great time lapse too
Ayush Basu: The butterfly and the flowers were a joy to photograph, Anne. Thank you
The butterfly didn't disappoint Ayush. Nicely captured.
The girl was lucky you were at hand
Ayush Basu: The butterfly seemed to be in a feeding frenzy, Janet
I was helped by locals in foreign lands and she seemed to be a visitor, I tried to return the favour.
Time to do a good deed and take pictures....not a bad day's work Ayush
Ayush Basu: While the time lapse was in progress, I tried to make myself useful rather than goof around, Bill. smile
Good timing Ayush, and what a gentleman you were to the young lady.
Ayush Basu: Pleased you liked this one, Brian. I have visited other lands and locals have been kind enough to direct me. This young lady was a visitor and I tried to return the favour
Your patience is inspiring... something I need to work on. Great shot.
Ayush Basu: Oh I still have a long way to go. Thank you Hollie
It's hard to focus if this little fellow refused to coorperate.
Ayush Basu: He couldn't care less about my presence, LC
A spectacular shot, Auyush - all things come to he who waits!
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the approval Tom, and the comment.
Super shot, Ayush. Plus a selfie time lapse !
Ayush Basu: Thank you, Frank. While the time lapse was in progress, I tried to make myself useful rather than goof around. smile

What a sensible way to do it, Ayush - and such patience!
Ayush Basu: I really ran out of it on this occasion, Lisl.
Thank you for the comment.
Your title is perfect for this nice image.
Ayush Basu: I am pleased you like it, Jacquelyn
wow...
Ayush Basu: smile

I love the sense of movement in your photo.

How cool having a time-lapse video of yourself. The ultimate Selfie ;-)
Ayush Basu: The movement was overwhelming in person. I was crouching among the flowers and there were around 7-10 of them going wild over nectar, CP. I have been helped around my way in foreign lands during my travels and this was my opportunity to return the favour to this young visitorsmile
Your patience paid off - I think this is a really lovely shot! I like that you ended up in your own time lapse... did you feel any different? smile
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much, Elizabeth.
Not a planned entry into the video but oh well grin
