How to shoot Squash (or not) - 5

Lesson five: the whites.

This venue had flickering lights (i.e, at the high speeds I was shooting, my camera was way faster than the frequency of cycle of the lamps) which meant that each image had all kinds of horizontal 'bands'. Shooting at an angle through the glass did not help. This meant, in turn, that a lot of post processing work was to be done to get the white balance somewhat correct.

But all in all, it was a great learning experience and I will be shooting some more squash. I hope I have better results the next time.

And another time lapse.

Finally got to catch up on your squash pix... Did you enjoy shooting this sport... even before you realized you'd spend time post processing?
Ayush Basu: Well I had already expressed an interest to the organizers so I did not want to back out
I think you've done really great! I love the position you've caught this player in - good shot!

Once agin, Ayush, the action you have captured trumps any little blemishes in light quality.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much, Ray. I will be shooting this again later so I hope I can use back this experience

Your efforts have resulted in a cracking shot. The squash racquet looks different the ones I've seen.
Ayush Basu: I wouldn't know about the racquet, Alan. Thank you for the kind comment.

I like the timelapse - good to see dawn coming.

I notice now that she is using a racquet with a big head. We used to play with much smaller heads. Another great time lapse.
Ayush Basu: I wouldn't know about the racquets, never having played this game myself, Louis. I am pleased you liked the time lapse.
