This was the Boys under 8 category. In case you're wondering, yes, they start to grunt at this level already.

 

I would like to pose a question here: as you may have noticed, I used a large aperture and chose to focus on the foreground player (only his back his visible). That leaves the background player blurred out (even though he is facing the camera). Should I have done the other way round?

I might have done it the other way, Ayush, but neither way is better.

That's how you get good - starting young!
I'm amazed at how you froze the ball!!! I might have focused on the other kid- since he's facing you. But it's still a great shot!
This way works well.
This is what I would do probably but the other way would work just as well.

Looks good like this Ayush but the background player might be a bit miffed if he saw it. Decisions, decisions
I think it would work either way, Ayush, but perhaps the focus on the boy and the back would have been more interesting?

My technical knowledge is not that good that I can advise you.
I do love this picture and love the POF (point of focus)

it's more exciting to have focus on the one so close smile i wouldn't change a thing
