The Devotees

The final celebrations being on a Sunday, there was a sizeable crowd of Burmese residents of Singapore. They came to take part in the water festival outside, followed by prayers and chanting in the main hall below and followed by a short sit down at the meditation hall here.

I see a goodly proportion are using their cell-phones to assist in their meditation, too, Ayush. smile
Ayush Basu: Buddha on speed dial, Ray!

They have brought their religion with them
Ayush Basu: It appears so Chris. Thank you
All doing their own thing. Even one on her phone!
Ayush Basu: Given that people have been seen to be crossing streets while buried in their phones, this one is actually quite safe, Bill grin

Some seem to be taking this more seriously than others smile Are they getting comfort from elsewhere on the mobiles?

They all seem very comfortable here Ayush.
Ayush Basu: With their mobile phone chargers in tow, Chad!
Maybe there is an app for meditation on their mobile phones, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: You could actually be right about that Pauline!
I notice that some of them are using their mobiles Ayush! Fine capture.
Ayush Basu: No doubt sending a facebook friend request to their favourite deity, Richard.

a very impressive situation - but some persons are distracted by other, modern things. A fine capture -and you were allowed to take it.
Ayush Basu: A far too common sight these days. You would imagine they stop getting distracted at least while crossing the streets.
There is apparently no one, common ruling on photography in places of worship. Some consent, some do not and some have prohibit right from the entry gates, Philine. Thank you for the comment.
Such sincerity in the face of the boy with the red shirt...
lovely and intimate Ayush!
Very much dedicationAyush
Everyone seems to have their own agenda... smile
That is nice.
I see some are meditating with their iPhones, Ayush. (sigh)
Interesting variety. Most seem to be going through the motions.
