The temple houses the largest pure white marble statue of the Buddha outside of Myanmar. U Kyaw Gaung, an immigrant from Mandalay, Myanmar, dreamed of a mammoth marble Buddha statue as seen in Myanmar. Thereafter he started to raise funds and managed to source an immense marble from Sagyin Hill. Sagyin Hill was already famous for its superior quality marble.
