Close-Up

Owing to the local Burmese community indulging in the water festivities, it was something like a torrential rainfall and I was content to soak in the atmosphere (literally) instead of taking pictures. This post is a close-up of the my last.

These intricate wooden carvings are done in teak. Having metered against the brightly illuminated wood, the sky turned out a rather deep shade of blue.

Teak eh! Must have taken an age to carve Ayush
It's a winner, Ayush!
This is just a wonder to behold Ayush
Magnificent details against this blu sky Ayush!
The photo is excellent for showing off the shapes. What skill the carvers have!

In my experience, when I shoot south, the sky has the most intense blue. Since this is on the other side of the equator, you must have been shooting north?
Great detail and colours Ayush!
What beautiful work in that.
The darker sky works well, Ayush.

It looks like gold; I think the metering has worked to your advantage. I must admit to rarely touching the metering on the grounds the image will end up worse than it would have done otherwise smile

Sensible that they are in such a hard wood, Ayush - it would be distressing to watch this crumble away
They are even more beautiful close up, Ayush.
An impressive carving, gold leaf or paint?
