Burmese Buddhist Temple

Earlier this year, I was invited by some friends to the Burmese Buddhist Temple in Singapore. The occassion was the Burmese New Year (Water Festival) and lasts for about three days of festivities. The original Burmese Buddhist Temple was at a different location (1875) and moved to the current address in 1988. It is the only Burmese Buddhist temple built outside of Myanmar in the traditional Burmese architectural style.

It is a very ornate roof, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: It really dazzled me Ray, literally and figuratively
An amazing sight... is that all gold?
Ayush Basu: I think it is wood with some paint job on it.
That is gorgeous golden colour.
Ayush Basu: It certainly caught the sunlight very nicely Michael.

I do like that design very much Ayush.
Ayush Basu: So do I Chad. That is why I stepped off centre to show off the layered ceiling
I wonder what these decorative roof embellishments are made from. It is really something to see.
Ayush Basu: It is wood with a painted veneer, not sure what exactly of. But the final effect is very nice Mary

You broke of a piece, to check whether it is real gold? I like the composition.
Ayush Basu: No, but I did give it a good rub Louis. It is wood with some kind of a veneer painted on.
