It is a brilliant art form, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I agree Ray, and one that I know absolutely nothing about
This kind of calligraphy puts me into a trance, Ayush. It's awesome.
Ayush Basu: I know what you mean Ginnie, thank you for the comment.

Clever stuff isn't it Ayush
Ayush Basu: I wouldn't know Chris smile but thank you very much.

I am always impressed at the skills shown by calligraphers Ayush, how I should like to be able to do that, without the tedium of practise.
Ayush Basu: I am with you on this. My colleague does this on a regular basis and says it is instrumental in reducing her stress levels and build her patience. And I understand they have some criteria for choosing the text to imprint. Thank you, Chad.

I have tried this Ayush - incredibly difficult for one lacking patience!
Ayush Basu: My colleague does this on a regular basis and says it is instrumental in reducing her stress levels and build her patience.
It is beautiful Ayush. My handwriting is awful!
Ayush Basu: In today's internet/digital age, I find I have to pick up the pen on fewer and fewer occasions, Bill.

I see some pages have lines to guide, but what work!
Ayush Basu: I would assume it is what the beginners use to get a sense of form and scale, Lisl.

Perfect patience smile
Ayush Basu: Oh definitely, considerable time building it too.
Beautiful and admirable work Ayush!
Ayush Basu: I think the idea was to show the beauty of it to the younger generation and have them try it out to get a feel of it, Martin.
Such an art to be able to do this, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: With practice it can be truly perfected, Pauline
I love the expression on the man's face. He is happy to be sharing his skill.
Ayush Basu: He was quite absorbed in it, Mary. Thank you very much.

A good handwriting shows your character...
I did some calligraphy in 1976. This kind what you show is pure art. Love the way the brush is handled.
Great shots, you got my attention here!
Ayush Basu: I have heard that said on several occasions and have often wondered whether there is any merit in it, Astrid.
I think the idea here was to show the beauty of it to the younger generation and have them try it out to get a feel of it, Astrid. Delighted to hear that you did calligraphy.
This is art to me Ayush! Very nice captures.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much Richard

Interesting to see calligraphy in other languages. Some came out darker - it depends on the angle of lighting as well. Same thing indoors as outdoors. Lets say the lights are positioned in a strip in the middle of a hall. Somewhere to the side walls you will experience less lumens than in the middle.
Ayush Basu: Thank you for your inputs, Louis. I myself have never tried calligraphy though I find it fascinating.

Prior to computers, I used to do signwriting for one employer; now I can barely sign my name sad
Ayush Basu: Come to think of it, I sometimes do not even pick up a pen on a daily basis, Alan!

Love both! Ancient art exhibited. Scribe looks so satisfied with his work!
Ayush Basu: You are very kind Bonnie. It was very intriguing to me but I do not read or write any Chinese, so I am not sure what any of the text means.
The art of calligraphy has always intrigued me, Ayush. Your capture of the artist practicing his skill with a smile on his face is wonderful.
Ayush Basu: He was very much in to his work, I think he was perhaps not even aware I was there with a camera.
Beautiful Ayush!
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much Ronky smile
Like Bill my writing these days is awful, but my wife Maureen tried calligraphy for a while and quite enjoyed it.
Ayush Basu: I have colleagues who practise it and say that it helps to reduce stress and build patience. And did Maureen pick up some elementary Chinese?

the images turned just right Ayush... it is a wonderful that he demonstrated the art of calligraphy....petersmile
Ayush Basu: You are very kind Peter, yes he was quite pleased to give a demonstration and he gave a lot of tips to youngsters.
A lovely skill, nice shots Ayush
Ayush Basu: Thank you for your kind comments, John

I love the Chinese (or ....?) signs although I don't understand them - but my brother learnt Chinese. Calligraphy is a higth art! I in particular like the photo nr. 2.
Ayush Basu: Yes Philine, it is Chinese, Mandarin I believe. I too understand nothing of it, I am not even sure which way is up. smile I am impressed to know your brother learned Chinese. There is rapidly growing interest among Westerners to learn Chinese. I have a French colleague who is fluent in it.
I admire anyone who can do that.
Ayush Basu: Same here Michael, thank you for the comment
A beautiful art- I think you've captured it well!
Ayush Basu: Thank you Elizabeth. I found it very fascinating.

Were you inspired to give it a go?
Ayush Basu: Yes but I restricted myself to taking photos of the event CP.
