Surf's Up

Another Maldives shot. Popular spot for surfing, a sport that looks exciting but something that scares the guts out of me. You can see the pale red approach and blue railing, for surfers to paddles out.

Beautiful image, Ayush! Love the shutter speed you used. The surfing doesn't frighten me, but these rocks you have to navigate to get to the water, do... I'd rather try it in Hawaii, where you paddle out on soft sand.. smile
Ayush Basu: This was the spot where the big waves were, but other surfing spots minus the rocks are abundant.
superb composition Ayush... turquoise water to match the railing... the rocks... the clouds and that great surf just breaking on the horizon....petersmile

did i miss anythingsmile
Ayush Basu: No Peter, you got that right smile Thank you for the comment.

I'm like you, I'd rather just look at the sea or paddle Ayush
Ayush Basu: Good, I could use some company while observing all the pumped up adrenaline junkies out there!

Aha. So it actually caters to the surfers, I see. That's really making a statement, Ayush. I think I'd just want to watch and take pictures, too!
Ayush Basu: As I was telling (or writing to Chris), I could use some company while observing all the pumped up adrenaline junkies out there, Ginnie!

Some of my family surf in our cold waters - I bet they would love it here, Ayush
Ayush Basu: I am sure of it, the water is clear and warm, not that crowded.

Wonderful point of view and I love the breaking of the waves. Beautiful colour of the water.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much Astrid.

Something that I have not tried Ayush, have you?
Ayush Basu: I have laid my hands on a surfboard while it was parked upright on dry sand. I suppose that does not count? tongue
My daughter has been to the Maldives a couple of times and loved it. Not surfing though!
Ayush Basu: Apart from the surfing bit, I loved everything about Maldives. And I suppose I would love surfing too, if only I could do it grin

The handrail helps give this some scale. I thought that the rocks were smaller at first.
Ayush Basu: I suppose the 10mm lens does not make it obvious but there are about 4 surfers heading out.

Lovely image like how the shutter speed has softened the water as it hits the rocks
Ayush Basu: Thank you Aussie. I tried bracketing around and this image was the one that I liked.
Absolutely stunning capture, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much Pauline

Wouldn't you hate to get scraped up on those rocks. Not big waves but I'm sure they get bigger. Excellent shot.
Ayush Basu: Thank you so much Mary! smile I suppose the 10mm lens does not make it obvious but there are about 4 surfers heading out. I am not sure if the waves get bigger or not, but at that time they did seem like big swells.

Great composition. I love the wave crashing in the distance and the movement of water in the foreground.
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the kind compliment Tony
It looks wonderful,Ayush, the rocks look a little daunting for landing on, on a surfboard though.
Ayush Basu: Thank you Frank, I had your water sports images in mind when I shot this.
What a gorgeous shot of this surfing area, Ayush. Is it just my imagination or are those tiny spots I see on the water actual surfers on the way to the wave?
Ayush Basu: You are very observant, I suppose the 10mm lens does not make it obvious but there are about 4 surfers heading out.
At first I did not understand the scale, until I saw the railing smile
Ayush Basu: Did you see the four surfers paddling out, John? grin Thank you for the visit and the comment.
Wonderful seaside view Ayush
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much, Janet
Stunning image Ayush!
Ayush Basu: You are very kind Richard.
I hadn't even thought it would be possible to surf in the Maldives.
Ayush Basu: I saw quite a few dedicated surfers out there Brian.
The waves and clouds are wonderful in your image.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much Jacquelyn!
That is gorgeous. What wonderful colour in the water.
Ayush Basu: Thanks a bunch Michael
Splendide image !
Ayush Basu: Appreciate your comment Olivier!
