CH40: Funicular to the City Centre

Apart from the regional and intercity travel, Lugano is also served by three funicular railways for its local travel. This is the station for the Funicolare Lugano Stazione, a short line connecting Lugano railway station to the city centre, costing a Swiss franc. The others are Funicolare Monte Brè and the Funicolare Monte San Salvatore that ascend to nearby hills to some upscale residential areas and tourist spots.

i like your POV in this shot Ayush... it shows the two levels for the passengers to load at different levels....petersmile
Ayush Basu: Thank you Peter, the washed out exterior that you see is the open road with a bus stop right outside. Meanwhile the funicular simply goes down below from here.

Ayush Basu: Oh yes, and with non of the smoke and pollution

It looks all so organised and efficient, Ayush
Ayush Basu: Yes, much of it was going on its own, with minimal supervision
I love the idea of a funicular railway into the shopping centre!
Ayush Basu: There is considerable difference in height, all over the town, Bill. Even on foot, one would have to go huffing and puffing up and down... a lot.

That looks a fun vehicle Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Quite right Chad. I liked the view from the front. There was no complimentary coke though.

Oh! They drink Coca Cola in Lugano too. The rail car has an odd shape, to match its function.
Ayush Basu: Yes, a bold proclamation of their brand loyalty, Louis.
You're right, the geometry of this car is like this as it is always remains on the inclined track so overall it is still upright.
A fine way to travel!
Ayush Basu: Yes, very much so, and with no smoke or exhaust. Thank you Elle
Looks an exciting way to travel into the city!
Ayush Basu: Oh yes, and with non of the smoke and pollution
What a bright and happy looking railway compared to the serenity of the mountains, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: I noticed quite a bit of red on the livery of their trains and funiculars, Pauline. Thank you

Is there nothing sacred from the marketing men of Coca Cola? It's a very bright colourful image, though.
Ayush Basu: Looks like nothing much Alan, thank you for the visit and the comment.
I'd never go on a cable car but I love riding in funiculars.
Ayush Basu: Then Lugano would be a fine place for you. This one is barely a couple of minutes long but the others are almost fifteen -twenty minutes long with grand views.
Coca Cola is a universal drink, isn't it? Fine capture Ayush!
Ayush Basu: To the point where the advertiser's logo has overshadowed that of the operator of the funicular!
Swiss efficiency with a little sponsorshipsmile

It is certainly very colourful.
Ayush Basu: Have you seen my next post from Lugano, CPgrin?
How fun is that! It looks like such fun - I love the bold colors in your image!
Ayush Basu: Thank you Elizabeth. It was just there and needed a click from my shutter smile
