INS Kirch: Quad launchers

I have absolutely no knowledge of naval architecture and marine weaponry. Again, thanks to the 'net, I was able to dig up some preliminary info. Seen here are four quad launchers. What I digested is that these corvettes are mainly designed for surface conflict, that is engaging other warships. These quadlaunchers are apparently compatible with such surface-to-surface missiles.

They might be better used in a circus clown act, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Haha that's a good one, Ray. That would certainly rock the show
Crikey, they're huge!! Great capture Ayush.
Ayush Basu: That's right Sally. If not for those people, the proportions would have been harder to imagine

This makes the mere mortals look very small, Ayush
Ayush Basu: Quite so Lisl smile Thank you for the visit

I wouldn't argue with 'em Ayush!
Ayush Basu: Yes, your Nex (or my Canon for that matter) may not deter those big guns smile

Do you suppose that they can fire 4 missiles at a time Ayush?
Ayush Basu: Good question. Possibly they have their own 'burst' mode grin
Awesome shot....

Bring back memories of attending Navy Military school.

The nice thing about theQuad launchers are even though they are more for surface targets (other ships and nearshore battery guns et al), in very desperate times and with an accurate targeter, it can be used on submarines... But its never that accurate.

Nice shot
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the input. That was new for me.
They look quite evil from this angle don't they.
Ayush Basu: Not as evil if they were directly pointed at me Brian grin
Fabulous shot of them Ayush
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much CM
Whatever they are I wouldn't want them pointing at me Ayush
Ayush Basu: You could always point your lens at them grin
Quite an impressive perspective Ayush! I wouldn't argue...
Ayush Basu: Nor me smile
That's crazy isn't it. I like this point of view!
Ayush Basu: Thank you Elizabeth smile
My goodness they're big. Well taken.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much Jacquelyn

I hope they remember to take the lids off before firing; it could all go very wrong if they don't.
Ayush Basu: Good point grin Thank you for the visit Alan

By the looks of it, Ayush, they could do their job quite well!
Ayush Basu: I do not doubt that. But I hope they don;t need to!
Real beasts Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Massive ones too.

Looks a little bit like torpedo launchers, which sometimes also used the quad configuration. http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WTUS_PostWWII.htm

I like the businesslike composition.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much Louis for your comment and the link. That was some heavy material!
Very strong visual of these launchers, Ayush. Only wish they were not necessary.
Ayush Basu: You've hit the nail right on the head Beverly. All the funding that goes behind these things, that could otherwise have been put to better use. Thank you for that input
Amazing photosmile Greetings
great framing of the quad launchers with the people walking below Ayush.. it gives us a perspective of their size....petersmile
