This location is apparently where it all started. The version that I heard is that over two thousand years ago, five monks mounted on rams, happened to be passing through this region, then suffering from a famine. Upon seeing the conditions, they left their rams here and disappeared. Since then, this region has continued to flourish. The rams are now the symbol of Guangzhou.
Today, this park is a great crowd puller on weekends. It has rides for kids, paddle boats as seen above, a variety of snacks and plenty of open spaces to indulge in tai chi and calisthenics. The gent below however preferred to enjoy a quiet smoke, away from the multitudes of kids.
