GZ 12: Yuexiu Park

This location is apparently where it all started. The version that I heard is that over two thousand years ago, five monks mounted on rams, happened to be passing through this region, then suffering from a famine. Upon seeing the conditions, they left their rams here and disappeared. Since then, this region has continued to flourish. The rams are now the symbol of Guangzhou.

Today, this park is a great crowd puller on weekends. It has rides for kids, paddle boats as seen above, a variety of snacks and plenty of open spaces to indulge in tai chi and calisthenics. The gent below however preferred to enjoy a quiet smoke, away from the multitudes of kids.

Cars on the water - very odd Ayush
Ayush Basu: Perhaps there is roadkill here too.
marrante ces voitures flottantes
Looks like a treat for the kids. I enjoyed looking at your Chinese selection Ayush. My grandfather was Chinese
Ayush Basu: Thank you for looking through. Oh, that is interesting. Which part of China? And have you visited the land of your grandfather?
It is good that the gent can find a place for peaceful reflection in this crowded country.
Ayush Basu: Not only for him but for smokers in general, available spaces are shrinking... rapidly.

Its a fascinating post, Ayush.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much, Ray. I had a good time there
Seems to have something for everyone, no matter your mood, Ayush. Great shots!
Ayush Basu: Oh yes! Thank you very much, Beverly
If they came back now they wouldn't recognise the place.
Ayush Basu: They would be lost in the multitudes of people all around, Brian
A place where anyone can enjoy a pleasant moment Ayush!
Ayush Basu: Certainly! I think entire families, young couples, so on were planning to spend the whole afternoon and evening there

This looks like fun to me and I don't blame the gent to look for a quiet place to smoke....
Ayush Basu: Areas designated for smoking are shrinking rapidly these days. In China, I got the impression, they may not have entirely enforced restrictions yet.
these are two wonderful images Ayush... the kids laughing and having fun in contrast to the serene scene of the old man enjoying his smoke....petersmile
Ayush Basu: Spot on! The rest of the park was quite lively and noisy even, and this old man had managed to grab this quiet spot

What a great idea for paddle boats, Ayush. I'm surprised I've not seen anything like it in America yet.

It's great to get away from the city, especially at the weekend! Fine shots Ayush smile
Ayush Basu: I believe the locals were doing just the same and this garden happens to be smack in the city center
