GZ 07: Guangxiao Temple

This temple on Guangxiao Road is reputedly the oldest Buddhist temples in the Guangdong province. Surprisingly, it was built by an Indian monk. However much of the expansion of the temple complex took place much later during the Qing Dynasty. The halls here include the Sakyamuni Hall, Samgharama Hall, the King of Heaven Hall, and two iron towers. One of the halls had a workshop of calligraphy going. It was quite interesting to see them first fill out an template and then do the actual calligraphy. Photography was not permitted inside.

It looks unhurried, Ayush...has to be a good thing in a big Chinese city.
That is lovely. Such wonderful colours and very nicely composed.
i like this image a lot Ayush... it seems as though they built the hall in the center at an angle tilting to the right... but it looks like a happy place... it's smilingsmile....petersmile

Funny how Eastern roofs curl up at the corners just like the old British Rail sandwiches used to.
