UAE 7: Al Ain

Al Ain is one of the lesser known places of UAE. It is the fourth largest city after Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah and also the birthplace of Sheikh Zayed. Seen in the distance are several green patches.

This solitary road makes its winding way right upto the top where there are several viewing spots, a resort hosting business meetings and conferences, and picnic spots for families to spend a relaxing day.

And now a close up.

Closed for an hour for security reasons while the Prince has a jog...
Ayush Basu: And perhaps another thirty minutes while he zips down the roads on his bike
Amazingly vast! Great shots Ayush!
Ayush Basu: Glad you liked them Elizabeth

A lot of road and no traffic!
Ayush Basu: There were probably three cars in all every hour Chris. Thank you for commenting
What a sight!
The jogger won't be disturbed by the traffic...
Ayush Basu: That's very true Richard. And I guess no unhealthy exhaust fumes
A striking shot, Ayush. Some road.
Ayush Basu: Thank you very much Graeme

Very educational, Ayush! And is that a bike lane????
Ayush Basu: What I could make out of this place, it was a solitary road so used by vehicles of all manner. For most of the length, there were 3 lanes, two for coming up and one going down. At some designated spots, the roads would widen up perhaps for emergency halts. The shoulders were not that wide and I assume the jogger was taking advantage of the sparse traffic
pourquoi tant de virage dans le désert ,belle journée
Ayush Basu: Je pense que depuis la route grimpe au sommet de la montagne. plus facile à naviguer l'ascension raide. Je vous remercie de votre commentaire.

I would say, the turns make it easier for the road to climb all the way to top. Thank you for the visit and the comment.

Certainly a harsh landscape. Does the road just go to the viewing area? Or onwards elsewhere. Certainly it has little traffic.
Ayush Basu: At the top are the picnic spots for families and the business resorts. Apart from that nothing much. But Al Ain residential areas are not too far off, perhaps around the green patches seen in the image.
Hello!
Lovely pictures.
  I love this place.
I believe that past life, I have lived in the desert.
I love the sun and fist desert.
I cordially greet.

Not my idea of a place for a pleasant jog - but I guess needs must! Looks very harsh.

Showing amazing infrastructure in this arid landscape. Parts of the world I can only imagine.

Wow.... what a great shots. This is amazing. Many countries would be jealous on this infra structure...
Not the kind of landscape I'd choose for a picnic! Great views though!
Can you imagine running in that heat?
Our climate is murder on our roadways and are in constant repair, Ayush. We can only dream of having them in this pristine condition. Two incredible images to marvel at.
