Midtown 8: The Shade

In Midtown's art district. In 1962, there was an aviation crash of an airline carrying art patrons from Atlanta. This statue sculpted by Rodin was a gift from France as a memorial for those who perished in the crash. Over the years, extensions and new expansions around this spot have tremendously increased the floor area for exhibition along with performance arts.

I have just learned something entirely new about my city of residence for 25 years, Ayush! Oh my! My only excuse is that I lived in the suburbs and didn't spend a lot of time downtown.

I just Googled the crash and I read that the crash took place in Paris. The biggest crash so far in aviation history.
A appropriate statue for all the people connected with the crash.

Great shot Ayush! The architect in the background makes this shot even more interesting.
Interesting to see that those high rise buildings appear to have been built from bricks, they look much nicer than some of the modern stuff.

Quite a picture with the semi-silhouetted sculpture against the afternoon light.
A powerful memorial, Ayush, beautifully shot like this.
