This is what is known as a relief, on one particular face of the Stone Mountain, Georgia. I had to look it up on the 'net to know what it all means. Basically, a kind of sculpture, it saves having to work on the rear of objects. Instead of actually working on the main part, the background is chiselled away so that the eroded surface forms the new background and the untouched part represents the object.
Judging from this scene, a lot of material had to be removed. This shot was taken in December. I am told that in warmer months, there is a laser show, projected onto the wall.
