photoblog image ... And The Kampong [2/2]

... And The Kampong [2/2]

In stark contrast to the previous post. As mentioned before, most of the other buildings in Malacca were two to three storeys high. And just a stone's throw away was that twenty plus storey high five star hotel building. A 'kampong' is a hamlet, in Malay language. By extension, it means the same in Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore.

Taken on the same afternoon as the last post, we were trying to take a detour that seemed to make sense on the maps application of our phones. On reaching the actual spot, we found the path had been claimed by overgrown weeds. We tried to push on and crossed the overgrown area, in the process trespassing on private property and evading 4 crazed dogs. After a while, there was a huge disconnect between the map on the phone and the reality on ground. But there was no further risk of the dogs lunging on my back since we were off their property.

Oh...the lengths you go to, to bring your photoblog to us, Ayush...modern day Adventurer!
Getting lost gave you an even better picture of the hamlet with the twenty storey hotel in the distance... except for the dogs that is....petersmile
You're like Indiana Jones! I like the contrasted photos- a statement of society I guess.

Risking your life for pictures, that is the spirit (grin...only joking of course)
Great series of pictures.
Thanks for showing us this part of the world.
A stark contrast indeed and one that is seen all over the world. The haves and the have nots
This sounds as though this walk was quite an adventure Ayush, but you got the contrast between the hotel and this small old building.
There's a real contrast here, Ayush smile

I wouldn't want to go anywhere near those dogs. There is a stark contrast between the poor and the opulent here.
Good contrast. Glad to hear you survived intact!
You live dangerously Ayush!
Great contrast here.
