This Could Only Mean...

... a Dutch passing. The Dutch took over Malacca from the Portugese for about a century. After that it was ceded to the British. It is said that the Dutch never really had long term plans of growing roots here; they focussed more on Java. Later Malacca passed to the East India Company and thenceforth, to the British crown. It gained independence in 1946, part of the Malayan Federation, later Malaysia.

You can imagine the Dutch thinking. "well even if we are only here for a bit we gotta have a windmill"

Windmills are all part of the Dutch psyche Ayush!
Wow, quelle lumière et ses fantastiques couleurs, j'adore !
They were there long enough to place something that would insure they were never forgotten.
We were here. Great shot Ayush
I must echo Bills thoughts on this, what a lovely find.
A Dutch mill under the Tropics!
Lovely capture Ayush.
I bet that was a little unexpected! Beautiful shot - love the bright greens!
The Edam unfortunately got a bit warm and had to be disposed of. What's that halfway up the tree?
The variety of restaurants in Malacca was truly amazing - no wonder!

I did not know about this Ayush. It seems that wherever the Dutch went they first felt compelled to build a windmill.

My dog also does things, to indicate he thinks he owns something - like a tree. Seems to me the Dutch put down a windmill for the same purpose.
Great Windmill. A happy new year to you and yours.
