Victoria Memorial - The Gardens

There is much to see apart from the monument itself. The beautifully landscaped gardens occupy 64 acres and are an ideal place for relaxation. Being a monument from the Raj, the Victoria Memorial garden too has its share of Raj era statues and lamp-posts, such as these.

These are fine & noble artefacts of Empire Ayush
Ayush Basu: And they were fairly well maintained too
Looks like a lovely place to visit Ayush. A beautiful set of lamps there
Ayush Basu: It really is. A beautiful place and not crowded at all
The days when the sun never set on the British empire. Weren't we just so arrogant in those days?
Ayush Basu: I am sure everyone has their moment Bill grin Thanks for the comment
This is a fine balustrade, so English.
Ayush Basu: I know nothing about English balustrades but this spot definitely appealed to me
Handsome lamps!

It could be England; nothing to tell me otherwise. The electrical feed to the the beautiful lamps seems to be a bit of an afterthought.
Ayush Basu: Yes, I do agree, it seems to stick out a bit

Very reminiscent of the Thames embankment in London - also a memorial to Victoria. Good composition.

You are making good use of the balustrades in this picture.

The olden day rich people kept huge pieces of land. Cities in general were stinking affairs with no sewage and thousand of animals living and dying there. Distance provided fresh air. A rich owner needed some place to exercise the horses. Large land was also good for the hunt and fresh meat on the table.
Ayush Basu: Thank you for the input Louis, appreciate it.
