photoblog image Victoria Memorial

Victoria Memorial

The Victoria Memorial was decided to be constructed on the death of Queen Victoria. India was then a British capital and Kolkata was the capital. Today it is a majour tourist attraction and houses a museum. A visit to Kolkata is hardly considered complete without making a trip here. I would have liked to return here for photos in evening illumination. Sadly, I could not managed time for that.

There are many buildings around the world, all fairly simialr, to mark the life (or death) or Queen Victoria; The parliament building in Victoria, British Columbia looks quite similar to this.

Travelling seldom brings you to the place at the right time. I experienced that a lot in Ireland.
